1. Melting and refining

To make clear glass, you need the right materials. It consists of silicon dioxide, sodium carbonate (Na2o), limestone/dolomite calcium oxide (CaO), dolomite (MgO), and feldspar (Al2O3). China glass manufacturers mix the ingredients in the right proportions, and the whole batch is fed into a furnace heated to 1,500 degrees Celsius. To add color to the glass, certain metal oxides are added to the ingredients.

2. Floating Bath

The molten material flows from the furnace into a floating bath consisting of a mirror made of molten tin. The material enters the bath at 1,500 degrees Celsius and leaves the bath at around 650 degrees Celsius. It is shaped like a solid ribbon at the exit.

3. Annealing

Next, a process called annealing is performed to remove stress from the inside of the glass. This process allows the glass band to pass through a layer to eliminate any pressure on the glass surface, and gradually cool to its final hardened form. This makes it easier to cut glass and shape.

4. Check
